The Finley FFA Chapter kicked off the school year with its annual FFA Root Beer Float Orientation on Wednesday, September 17, in Mrs. Yochum’s classroom after school. The event drew 23 attendees, including six chapter officers, who were excited to welcome new and returning members to the program.
To break the ice, the officer team led everyone in a fun game of “This or That,” where students chose between two agriculturally related options. Laughter and conversation filled the room as students got to know each other in a relaxed setting. Afterward, officers shared information about the National FFA Organization and explained what FFA has to offer students—leadership opportunities, career exploration, community service, competitions, and travel experiences. They also highlighted the exciting activities the Finley FFA Chapter attends or puts on each year, such as livestock shows, jamboree, community service projects, and leadership retreats.
Students interested in joining learned how to become involved in upcoming events and meetings. With root beer floats in hand and plenty of excitement, the event set a positive tone for what promises to be another outstanding year for Finley FFA.
